The amount of miracles reported and Vatican-verified in the Catholic world is a straightforward obscenity to our modern sensibilities. From photographed appearances of Mary witnessed by thousands over the course of three years to the bodies of holy persons refusing to decay to a handful of miracles associated with the Eucharist, and a whole litany of reports connected to saints, the cumulative force is frankly alarming. Notably, these things have not stopped happening with the dawn of the “scientific” era. We may have emptied the forests of pixies and satyrs, but apparently the heavens remain as full as ever.
For the interested, I recommend checking out Fr. Andrew Dalton’s excellent work on the Shroud of Turin. You might also look into Our Lady of Guadalupe.
