Appendices
When I finished the original essay, I realized that it would be incomplete without at least the beginnings of actual theological work. This grew into a collection of appendices tackling various questions my main argument was forced to leave hanging. Appendix 2 is by far the most important.
Appendix 1: Approximate Timeline
An overview of my journey in very rough chronological order.
Appendix 2: The Reformation’s “Five Solas” and Catholicism
Argues for the compatibility of the key Reformation insights with Catholic teaching.
Appendix 3: Spiritual Gifts and the Sacraments in Protestantism
Aims to show that Catholics may recognize God’s work among all peoples, particularly other Christians. Provides an analysis of the extent to which we might recognize a real but incomplete presence of the Sacraments in Protestantism.
Appendix 4: “I Could Be Catholic If It Weren’t For…”
This move is comforting, but not consistent.
Appendix 5: “But I Haven’t Felt The Call”
Why doesn’t God seem to stir every faithful Protestant Romeward? If Catholicism is true, has every single Protestant pastor or missionary been mistaken about their calling?
Appendix 6: Resources and Further Reading
Books, podcasts, websites, and many more goodies! Also includes links to everything referenced in the main essay + other appendices.
Reflects on my first Eucharist and clarifies some confusion over the main essay.
